Westport Flood Recovery

17 August 2021

Initially set up as a Flood Emergency response information centre, the Westport Flood Recovery Community Hub is a one stop shop for all flood affected residents needing advice, information and support.

Thanks to the amazing support from Martins Mitre 10 we have been able to move the Hub to a more permanent site at 175 Palmerston Street, opposite Westport New World.

Sponsorship from Martins Mitre 10 has enabled us to fit out the hub and make it a welcoming place for all residents who have been flood affected.

Managed by the fantastic team from Homebuilders, Te Hā O Kawatiri and Buller REAP – the Community Hub can connect you to:

TAS (Temporary Accommodation Service) – Westport Flood Recovery Centre are advising that all displaced families and individuals register with TAS. This does not commit you to anything, but it does cover you in 3-6 months’ time if your current accommodation circumstances change.

RAS (Residential Advisory Service) – Independent advisors who can help you understand your insurance policy and what you are entitled to. RAS can also advocate for you if you have valid concerns with what your insurance company is offering.

Navigator Support – There are currently navigators based at the hub who can walk alongside you if you are struggling to understand processes or just struggling to cope. Navigators will help direct you to the support you need.

Other agency support – Staff at the hub can help connect you to a wide variety of support agencies or can simply offer you a cuppa and a chat if that is what you need.

Westport Flood Recovery Community Hub – Proudly sponsored by Martins Mitre 10.
