The Ministry for Primary Industries
The Ministry for Primary Industries is working with rural communities and individual farmers to provide information, timely advice and support to assist farmers to become fully functional as soon as possible.
The Ministry for Primary Industries funds the Rural Support Trust. The Trust is funded to provide events, support and counselling for affected farmers. Go to: www.rural-support.org.nz (Regions/West Coast).

Rural Mayoral Relief Fund

The Buller and Tasman Rural Mayoral Relief Fund for primary industry businesses is open for applications.
The Mayoral Rural Relief Fund has been established to assist farmers in the Buller and lower Tasman areas in their recovery following the February 2022 flooding event.
It is a joint fund across Tasman District Council and Buller District Council, administered by Buller District Council.
The fund has $140,000.00 available to distribute to Primary Industry Businesses impacted by the February storm event.
If your farm suffered financial loss due to the February storm event you are invited and encouraged to apply before Friday 17th June.
Forms can also be collected at the Westport Flood Recovery Community Hub.
A special committee will meet to consider all applications. Applicants will then be advised of the outcome via email and payment will be made into the nominated bank account the following week. The Rural Mayoral Relief Fund is a joint fund across Tasman District Council and Buller District Council, and is administered by Buller District Council.
