We know this is an anxious time for many of you and we want to reassure you that we have the Emergency Operations Centre activated, are working closely with our partner agencies and other organisations as we plan and prepare for this event.
External support from around the country is expected to arrive in Westport today. Buller District Council staff and WestReef Services Ltd have been out checking and preparing infrastructure for the weather event. This includes checking of pump stations, water supplies, sumps and drainage networks.
Residents in Westport, Karamea, Mokhinui and Seddonville need have a personal plan in place.

- Have a grab bag ready – include medications, water, food, blankets, warm clothes – remember your pets
- Evacuation centres are being set up to welcome those people who are unable to go to friends or families, we will advise where these are and when they are open later this afternoon
