Residents impacted by the February floodwaters can dispose of rubbish free for two weeks from today.
A kerbside collection service is available for residents of Red & Yellow stickered (placarded) homes only.

Red & Yellow Placarded Homes
Place your flood affected domestic waste on the grass verge for kerbside collection.
This is a free collection service. We are currently working with WestReef to confirm rubbish collection times.
Non Placarded Homes
You may dispose of your flood affected waste free of charge during normal operating hours from 16 February – 7th March 2022 at:
– Westport Transfer Station
– Reefton Transfer Station
– Maruia Landfill
– Karamea Landfill

Under exceptional circumstances collection of flood affected domestic waste from non-placarded houses may occur. This will be approved on a case by case basis and must be organised through the Navigators at The Community Hub in Westport. Contact 0800 768 348 for advice.
What is flood affected domestic waste?
Flood affected domestic waste are household items that became sodden because of the recent flood event and need to be disposed of. They may include:
• Carpets,
• Furniture such as beds, couches and chairs,
• Kitchen appliances / whiteware,
• Cutlery and electric gadgets,
• Clothes, linen, bedding and tall boys, and
• other furniture and nick knacks etc.
What waste is not covered (excluded)?
Any construction and demolition waste, eg. treated wood, gib, insulation. Any contaminated products containing asbestos, eg. lino, sealing features.
